Cumbres & Toltec Railroad kicks off 48th season with opening day festivities

The Cumbres & Toltec Railroad is set to begin its 48th season this week.

Beginning May 26, double-headed trains will depart from Chama, N.M and Antonito, Colorado to travel the 64-mile railroad.

Both stations will continue to have regular departing trains daily until October 21.

In Antonito, beginning at 9 a.m., various activities will also take place for Opening Day including Navajo Nation blessing, Folklorico dancers and a John Denver tribute.

Chama festivities will include Native drumming and a Jicarilla Apache Nation blessing.
