BERNARDO (KRQE) - News 13 got an up-close look at some of the flooding in New Mexico.
The town of Bernardo is small - just nine families - but the effects of the flooding were devastating.
The roads to Chris Lopez's house are completely flooded and so is his yard and home.
Lopez grew up in the home south of Belen. It was passed down in his family through three generations.
"I almost want to cry just looking at it," Lopez said. "Look at my adobe walls there. They're about to fall apart. They're about to break in."
Sky News 13 was overhead when the National Guard helped people and their pets get out of Bernardo on Monday.
On Tuesday, when the water started receding, they came back to check on their homes and help their neighbors.
The only road to I-25 from the village is flooded and dangerous, even with four-wheel drive.
