LAS VEGAS, N.M. (KRQE) - Firefighters are mopping up a wildfire that started southwest of Las Vegas, New Mexico.
The 283 Fire sparked around two Saturday afternoon near Highway 283 about four miles west of I-25.
The fire charred about 30 acres and is 70 percent contained.
The state forestry department says crews are now in mop-up stage.
There were no evacuations.
Investigators say the fire looks to be human caused after they found hot ashes.
