Hurricane Ingrid is expected to make landfall in eastern Mexico on Monday, which will have an effect on parts of southern Texas. Southern Florida will also experience strong thunderstorms throughout the day due to an easterly flow off of the Atlantic. A cold front boundary that will stretch from the southern Plains to New England will bring widespread showers and thunderstorms to the Midwest and Northeast. Meanwhile, the Pacific Northwest can expect showers and a chance of thunderstorms as a cold front moves through the region.
The outer rain bands associated with Hurricane Ingrid will impact parts of southern Texas on Monday as the hurricane makes landfall in eastern Mexico. IngridÂ's forecast track has the system moving through the Bay of Campeche and into Mexico on Monday, keeping it several hundred miles south of the border. Regardless, thunderstorms will affect southern Texas throughout the day. Across the Gulf of Mexico, southern Florida will experience thunderstorms associated with an easterly flow off of the Atlantic. This system will bring strong winds, as well as heavy rain throughout the day.
The Midwest and Northeast can expect showers and thunderstorms on Monday as associated with an extensive frontal boundary. The north central Plains, as well as the Mississippi Valley, can expect thunderstorms throughout the day, while rain is expected to develop over the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.
The Southwest will continue to experience warm, dry conditions throughout Monday, while the Pacific Northwest will be impacted by showers and spotty thunderstorms. These showers and thunderstorms will be associated with a cold front that is expected to move into the northern Plains and Rockies by the end of the day.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday have ranged from a morning low of 30 degrees at Mt. Washington, N.H. to a high of 105 degrees at El Centro, Calif.
