Weather Underground Forecast for Monday, October 07, 2013.
A cold front is expected to move over the eastern third of the country on Monday, bringing showers and thunderstorms to the Eastern Seaboard, while the majority of the Southwest will experience dry conditions.
Washington, Oregon, northern Nevada, and eastern Montana can expect rainy weather throughout the day on Monday as a cold front boundary moves over the region. Temperatures will drop 5 to 10 degrees behind the front, which may spur snow showers at high elevations in the northern Cascades. The Southwest and Great Basin will likely avoid precipitation on Monday as a ridge of high pressure builds over the four corners.
A cold front boundary extending from the Florida panhandle to New York will bring showers and thunderstorms to a large portion of the East Coast. Showers will persist in the upper Midwest, although wet weather should die down by the late afternoon. The central Midwest will experience drier conditions on Monday as the cold front moves further east, but temperatures will likely be 5 to 10 degrees cooler due to the cold air mass behind the front. The strongest thunderstorms associated with this extensive cold front will move through the Mid-Atlantic states as remnants of Tropical Storm Karen will continue to interact with this system. Gusty winds can also be expected along the coast. The Northeast will experience moderate showers and thunderstorms as a low pressure system ushers moisture in from Canada.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday have ranged from a morning low of 17 degrees at Gunnison, Colo. to a high of 93 degrees at North Island, Calif.
