ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Friday night's dangerous storm took aim on downtown Albuquerque where BioPark Zoo patrons fled for shelter as winds kicked up and tree limbs came down.
Video shot from the band shell looking toward the picnic area showed tree branches blowing sideways as patrons expecting an entertaining evening got more than they bargained for.
In the background a large tree limb can be seen falling.
There were no reports of injuries.
In the aftermath branches large and small littered the picnic area, which was dotted with abandoned coolers and lawn chairs.
The zoo will be closed Saturday for cleanup, its marketing director said.
At Isleta Pavilion the storm blew out country singer Luke Bryan's concert.
"Bad weather here in Albuquerque. Show can't happen tonight. Freakin bummed," Bryan tweeted. "Hey y'all. Hope everyone is ok. Praying everyone got to they're vehicles safely."
Bryan's venue was just south of the Albuquerque Sunport where the National Weather Service reported a wind gust of 89 mph at 7:36 p.m.
Elsewhere in downtown water flooded streets and filled the Central Avenue underpass beneath the railroad tracks between Broadway Boulevard and First Street.
