ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) - The Albuquerque Isotopes returned home Thursday and defeated the Reno Aces 8-2. Tom Murphy got the Isotopes on the board in the second inning with a two run shot.
One inning later Mike Tauchman hit a dribbler that was mishandled by the Aces third baseman and allowed all runners to be safe, including Garrett Hampson who scored from third.
That made the score 3-0 and was enough to win the game. The Isotopes would add five more runs to go along with a dominate performance from pitcher Jeff Hoffman. Hoffman kept the Aces scoreless with a little more than six innings of work. He gave up 7 hits while striking out 10 batters.
The Isotopes improved to 21-20 with the win while the Aces dropped to 17-24. Game two between the teams is at 6:35 p.m. at Isotopes Park Friday.
