ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) - Guard Cherise Beynon put up impressive numbers during her career as a University of New Mexico women's basketball player. She even set the record for points in a single game at 41 in her final season with the team.
Monday, the WNBA contacted UNM Sports Information, seeking information on Beynon. What team or teams that may be interested is not known, but Beynon has done her part. All teams have to do is look at a highlight reel of Beynon and it will speak for itself.
Beynon scored 607 points this past season while leading the Lobos to a berth in the WNIT and 25-11 record.
Beynon averaged 16.9 points and 6.8 assists in her senior year. "I didn't come in thinking I was going to break a lot of records and be in the top ten in a lot of statistical categories here at UNM," said Beynon. "I just always wanted to win basketball games and bring home championships to the University of New Mexico."
Beynon said her biggest accomplishment as a Lobo came in the classroom. Beynon won the National Academic All American of the Year Award. The WNBA Draft is April 12.
