KINGSTON, N.M. (KRQE) - The Silver Fire in the Gila has come dangerously close to the town of Kingston.
Officials say the fire is now within one-quarter mile of the town.
An 'unusual nighttime easterly wind" helped drive the fire towards Kingston overnight, but firefighters were able to successfully protect the town.
The fire has now burned more than 11,000 acres.
