ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Two incumbent state representatives--one a Democrat, one aRepublican--have been ousted in their bids for re-election inTuesday's primary.
Alamogordo Republican Gloria Vaughn lost to Yvette Herrell in atwo-woman GOP primary in District 51 in Otero County.
The Nov. 2 general election will pit Herrell against DemocratSusan C. Medina, who defeated Joe Ferguson in that party'sprimary.
Vaughn had held the seat since 1995.
Two-term Belen Democrat Elias Barela was defeated by stateRacing Commission executive director Julian Luna in District 8 inValencia County.
Luna will face Alonzo Baldonado in the general election.Baldonado had no opposition in the GOP primary.
All 70 House seats are up for election. The current makeup ofthe House is 45 Democrats and 25 Republicans.
