ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A proposed abortion ban in Albuquerque just might pass.
The measure, which will be put before voters in November, would ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
According to a poll commissioned by the Albuquerque Journal last week, 54 percent of Albuquerque residents are in support of the ban while 39 percent oppose it.
The majority of support comes from republican voters.
Though many Albuquerque voters are pro-choice, they say they might support the ban because of its late-term nature.
Another factor in increased support for the ban, says the Journal, is Albuquerque’s large number of Hispanic voters, whose religious beliefs influence how they vote.
