ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Bernalillo county assessor Karen Montoya announced Saturday that she will be running for the PRC seat soon to be vacated by Jason marks.
"I'm running for this office because i want to bring integrity, accountability and transparency to the office of public regulations commission," Montoya said.
Montoya was criticized recently for firing employees at the county assessor's office.
She said she did it to save taxpayers money. Others say she had different motives.
The county manager had to step in at one point, re-hiring 6 employees fired by Montoya and placing them in other county departments.
