Durango city council approves moving homeless camp

DURANGO, Colo. (KRQE) - A homeless camp in a popular area of Durango is being moved.

Deputies say the decision was made after a small fire was started Tuesday afternoon in the area north of Durango Tech Center.

The new location will be just up the road.

The city council did approve a measure allowing the homeless to stay at the Durango dog park overnight, but they must pack up their belongings each day.

Some have expressed health concern about that location because it's an old uranium mill site.
