Suspect in deputy-involved shooting arrested in Santa Fe

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) - Deputies have arrested a suspect in a deputy-involved shooting.

State Police say 26-year-old Carlos Alonso-Villa was speeding on State Road 599 near Santa Fe on Friday when deputies tried to pull him over.

He refused to stop and even rammed into a Santa Fe deputy's patrol unit at one point, prompting a chase.

A deputy says he was outside when Alonso-Villa accelerated towards him, leading him to take three shots at Alonso-Villa.

He was able to get away from deputies, but Monday night deputies found Alonso-Villa at a Santa Fe house.

He's now locked up, facing charges including aggravated assault on a peace officer.
