Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday, August 28, 2013.
Late-season heat will continue in the Midwest on Wednesday, while active weather in the region spreads into the parts of the East.
In the Midwest, high pressure over the Central U.S. will support another day of late summertime heat across the region. Heat advisories will continue for portions of the Northern and Central Plains and the Midwest as daytime highs climb well into the 90s to near the 100 degree mark and heat indices range from about 100-105 degrees with locally higher values. Meanwhile, strong heating and energy traversing across the northern edge of the system will help fuel scattered showers and chances of thunderstorms across parts of the Midwest into areas of the Northeast and the upper Mid-Atlantic. Rich moisture over parts of the upper Ohio Valley through portions of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast may support areas of heavy downpours and organized thunderstorms capable of producing frequent lightning.
Meanwhile, west of this activity, energy lifting into the in the Northern Plains may kick up generally light showers showers in parts of the Dakotas. Further West, moist flow will support continued showers and thunderstorms in the Great Basin and parts of the Southwest, while a trough of low pressure supports hoers in the Pacific Northwest.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Tuesday have ranged from a morning low of 33 degrees at Lakeview AWS, Ore. to a high of 100 degrees at Lexington, Neb.
