Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday, October 12, 2013.
A cold front is expected to stretch from Texas to Wisconsin on Saturday, while a ridge of high pressure will build over the Southeast.
Light to moderate rain will linger in parts of the Northwest and Great Basin due to an area of low pressure over northern Nevada. The majority of the Southwest will avoid precipitation on Saturday, although cool conditions will persist throughout the region. The southern California and Arizona deserts will experience temperatures below 90 degrees, which is below average for this time of year.
Meanwhile to the east, a cold frontal boundary will trigger rain and thunderstorms across the lower Mississippi Valley and throughout the Ohio Valley. Rain will also occur behind the front in parts of the upper Midwest and northern Plains. The heaviest rain associated with this cold front will be focused over Minnesota and Wisconsin, as several inches of rain will be possible in the region.
A ridge of high pressure is expected to build over the Southeast on Saturday, which will draw warm, humid conditions in from the Gulf of Mexico. The southern tip of Florida may experience intermittent thunderstorms, but the remainder of Florida will stay clear. The Mid-Atlantic and Northeast will experience rainy weather on Saturday as a low pressure system continues to sit off of the coast of Virginia. Wet weather will likely stretch from the Carolinas to New England.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Friday have ranged from a morning low of 16 degrees at Stanley, Idaho to a high of 94 degrees at Weslaco, Texas
