WASHINGTON (AP) — For those Americans who remembered to fall back before bedtime, the extra hour of sleep is a bonus. Those who forgot may be finding themselves running an hour early.
It's all thanks to the annual shift back to standard time from daylight saving time in much of the county, though some areas don't observe any time change.
Residents of Hawaii, most of Arizona and some U.S. territories don't have to change since they do not observe daylight saving time.
Public safety officials say it's also a good time to put a new battery in the smoke alarm, no matter where you live.
Daylight saving time returns at 2 a.m. local time March 9.
