LOS LUNAS, N.M. (KRQE) - A suspected prowler is being treated at the hospital after Los Lunas Police shot him.
It happened around 2 a.m. in the Huning Ranch neighborhood when officers responded to a call about a man in someone's backyard.
Police chased the man on foot before at least one Los Lunas officer opened fire. State Police are now investigating why.
"Once the foot pursuit started we don't know the factors that occured that precipitated the use of force by the officer," State Police Officer Ray Wilson said.
The suspect's condition and identity have not been released.
