BERNALILLO (KRQE) - State Police are investigating the death of a person hit by a Rail Runner train.
The body of a 50-year-old man was found around 7 p.m. Saturday near the Bernalillo stop.
Engineers didn't know something was wrong until they got to the Santa Fe station and found blood and hair on a piece of the train.
The engineer told investigators she remembered seeing a person laying on the ground near the tracks in Bernalillo.
She made a call to dispatch, but could not stop the train. Police say the last car of the train hit the man. It is unclear whether the train killed him or if he was already dead.
State police are still investigating. The man’s name has not been released.
