It's Head Coach Bob Davies second year at the helm as the Lobos began conference play and celebrated homecoming Saturday.
So is his presence putting more fans in the seats?
With a rocky one-win two-loss start to this season it's certainly wasn't a full house at University Stadium.
But still several thousand--some fans estimated about 20,000--people were ready for the 6 p.m. kkickoff against the University of Nevada Las Vegas Rebels.
That's only about half capacity.
This is the Lobos' first home game since the season opener on Aug. 31 and their first Mountain West Conference game of the season.
Fans told KRQE News 13 they're pumped for a turnaround saying the Lobos are a young team trying hard to win.
"You've got to trust the coaches," Stewart Aronberg said. "They see the players every day. They know what they have.
"They want to win just as much as the fans want to win."
"We're so excited especially with the new coaching staff," added Anthony Montoya Jr. "You can see the fire in these guys' eyes. They're so happy to play for him, and you just see them out on the field putting their heart out.
"So we're so excited to see all of the changes."
As part of homecoming University Stadium was to host a balloon glow after the game.
