GRANTS, N.M. (KRQE) - Flooding problems just began for the town of Grants.
Grants Schools were let out early Monday and school is canceled district-wide Tuesday because of flooding issues.
Weekend floodwaters in nearby Bluewater led to big problems Monday.
The waters of the San Jose river were nearing their banks by late morning.
Now sandbags line parts of the town as high waters run near homes and businesses.
All that water has caused manhole covers to overflow - which led to sewage running through some streets.
"We've been driving around looking at all the manholes coming up. Where's all that sewage going?" said Grants resident Dale Burns. "I'm sure it's going to wash somewhere but where's it going to wash to?"
