ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The stiff winds raking New Mexico Thursday have canceled the Special Shapes Glowdeo at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta although the fireworks show is scheduled to go on as planned.
The potent storm system that is dropping snow across northern New Mexico and blew a train off the tracks also shut down the Special Shapes mass ascension Thursday morning. Many pilots went ahead and inflated their crafts but kept them tethered.
KRQE Chief Meteorologist Mark Ronchetti says the storm should blow out of the area overnight leaving good weather for Balloon Fiesta events from Friday morning through the weekend.
