ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Campus security guards did nothing wrong when they got into a scuffle with a skateboarding student, according to Central New Mexico Community College.
Two weeks ago another student witnessed a security guard throwing the student's skateboard on the ground before pushing and grabbing him. The first student started recording the conflict on his cell phone.
In the video the officer can be seen putting the student in a chokehold.
A CNM spokesman says it happened when security officers were helping a woman who had fallen. That's when the student on skateboard rode into an area he wasn't supposed to almost running into her.
The student then ignored a warning to get off.
In a statement released Wednesday CNM said: "Security officers followed CNM security protocol and took the proper actions to keep a potentially dangerous situation from escalating further."
As for the student, he was detained and then released.
