ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Thousands of customers are still without power Tuesday afternoon.
As of 3 p.m., PNM says they have restored about 700 homes with power. The remaining 1,100 customers may have to do without power until 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
This after ferocious winds whipped through Albuquerque Monday night, knocking down crucial power lines.
So far, it's affecting about 2,000 customers near Tramway and Montgomery. With temperatures soaring the way they have been Monday and Tuesday, now is not the time to be without an air conditioner.
One critical transmission and distribution line was knocked down last night when the pole it was attached to snapped.
PNM says they could have fixed any other line faster, but because this one has both transmission and distribution attached to it, it's more difficult.
They also stress that they have a third of their entire line crew statewide addressing this one situation here.
PNM says for customers who want up to the minute updates on when everything will be back up, they can check their Twitter or Facebook pages.
