ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The 18th annual Americas Challenge gas balloon race came to end Wednesday in Canada.
The winning team: Peter Cuneo and Barbara Fricke, piloting Foxtrot Charlie, according to unofficial results.
The team was aloft for 60 hours before landing in a swampy clearing near White River in Ontario. They covered 1,427 miles, nearly 500 miles more than the runnersup, Phil Bryant and Andy Cayton, who landed after 48 hours near Long Prairie, Minn.
