ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Albuquerque store owners can begin tallying the numbers to find out if the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta paid off for them.
Shop owners in Old Town have been crossing their fingers hoping for a successful nine days for Balloon Fiesta and for themselves.
This weekend the streets were filled with music, dancing and shoppers during the last days of the fiesta.
"Absolutely fabulous," said Laura Martinez of the Old Town Basket and Rug Shop. "This has been the best balloon fiesta years.
"We're up 5 percent up to date, and so we're just really excited about it."
But balloons were not the only reason some made their way to Albuquerque.
Dorothy Anderson said she had other plans until the federal government partially shut down.
"Because so many things had been shut down, that they had to do some replacements, and this was one," Anderson told KRQE News 13. "Fortunately for us because this is really darling."
Shops expect fiesta business to float through Monday, which is Columbus Day and a holiday for some people.
