ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Interstate 40 near Moriarty was closed for several hours Thursday because of a chain reaction crash that killed one person and seriously injured three, including a pregnant woman and her kids.
It happened just west of Moriarty around 10 a.m. The lanes reopened shortly before 1 p.m.
The Torrance County sheriff says a bus from Legacy Church full of kids, slowed down to turn around, causing two other cars to crash. One of the cars contained a woman heading to the hospital to give birth, she and two of her kids were airlifted out.
Another child and five people in the other car were taken by ambulance.
None of the kids on the bus were hurt.
Then in the back-up, a car rear ended a semi, killing Marcus Epperson, 34, of Rio Rancho. Epperson was the driver of the car.
Crews are on scene of a crash involving a pedestrian at Broadway and Lomas. Officials have closed eastbound Lomas at the intersection.
