Inmate escapes from Cibola County Detention Center

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) - Authorities are actively searching for an escaped inmate.

Police say they are looking for 22-year-old Ramon Lorenzo.

 He's believed to have escaped sometime Tuesday night from the Cibola County Detention Center.

The Cibola County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that Ramon Lorenzo escaped Tuesday night.

Authorities tell KRQE News 13 that Lorezno was last seen in the Mountain Taylor area, which is just outside of Grants, asking for a ride. That's when neighbors called the police.

Law enforcement searched the area and were able to locate his orange jumpsuit.

He was last seen wearing a white muscle shirt, and khaki shorts. He's described as 5-11, 150-pounds with tattoos on his neck, arm and chest.

We're told he does have family in the Acoma Pueblo area and police are monitoring those residents.

At least 50 to 75 law enforcement officials have been out searching for Lorenzo including K-9, ground units, helicopters and drones.

Lorenzo was waiting to be transferred to the Department of Corrections for a case involving armed robbery and aggravated battery.

He's described as being dangerous and if you see him, you're asked to call police.
