ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - It was a wild night and a wild morning in far northeast Albuquerque, where police and Game and Fish have kept busy chasing down bears.
Bears continue to come into the metro area, looking for food.
Right now, Game and Fish have three large bears at the Albuquerque office that were trapped since Tuesday night.
There is a male bear, which ran straight into backyards Tuesday night in the northeast heights.
He was corralled by police and Game and Fish in yard at Comanche and Morris.
Officers tranquilized the bear. He came down on an air-mattress, before being carried away.
Another bear kept officers busy and curious neighbors occupied starting at about 6 a.m. Wednesday.
"I was upstairs and my husband ran upstairs and said, hurry, hurry, there's a bear in the yard and we just ran out and there he was and he hung out for a little while in our backyard," Alma Giron said.
The female bear hopped fences and ran through yards for two hours before officers darted her near Florence and Barstow.
Game and Fish officers say she is about 3 to 4-years-old, is in pretty good shape and that she appears to be eating alright.
Officers say a third bear, a 220 pound male who is a repeat offender, was caught in Algodones overnight.
Game and Fish are now trying to figure out what to do with these three bears.
While there has been a lot of rain recently, Game and Fish says it will not help out the bears food supply until probably September.
