ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Albuquerque Police released the surveillance video of a robbery that left an Albuquerque store clerk dead and the suspect is still on the loose
The suspect seen in surveillance dressed in a black hoodie, barged into the National Jewelry Buyers store on Coors in northwest Albuquerque around 5 o'clock Friday night.
He pulled out a gun to rob the store, then shots were fired. Police said the clerk was hit and later died.
Investigators said there was lots of cash and Jewelry inside and that's exactly what the suspect was after.
"It appears to be a robbery gone wrong last night, it appears to be a botched robbery," explained Officer Simon Drobik, of the Albuquerque Police Department. "This place is a cash for gold business, lots of money, lots of product there."
Police said it appears that the suspect was wearing a red bandana covering his face. He got away in an older model white Crown Victoria with an undisclosed amount of money..
Police said the wheels were blacked out, and it appears the suspect knew the layout of the store before the robbery. Police have not released the victims name.
The store remains closed while the investigation continues.
While the roads were looking clearer Friday morning in the Albuquerque area, appearances can be deceiving
