LAS CRUCES (KRQE) - A police K9 was stabbed Monday morning and is now recovering.
It happened just after midnight near Lynn Middle School in Las Cruces.
Police say Alan Golden, 23, refused to put down a large knife and threatened to kill himself. That's when the K9, Dave, was deployed and attacked Golden.
Golden then allegedly stabbed the dog in the left shoulder. The K9 received five staples to close the wound.
Golden was sent to the hospital for his injuries.
Once he's released, Golden will be booked on a fourth degree felony of causing serious injury to a service dog.
