ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (KRQE) - The father of an Alamogordo boy found living in a dangerous, filthy house has been arrested.
Gerald Halmeyer, 52, and the boy’s mother, Jennifer Halmeyer, have been charged with child abuse.
According to a police report, officers arrived at the couple's home and found piles of trash, cleaning products, exposed wiring, mold all over and a hole in the floor where officers could see the dirt ground.
A thermometer also read 99 degrees in the home.
The child was taken into custody by CYFD.
