ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Police arrested a man for allegedly shooting a 16-year-old who was suspected of breaking into the man’s car early Sunday morning.
APD says they received a call around 2 a.m. from Kyle Cordova, 26, who said a thief was in his car. At some point, police say Cordova grabbed a handgun and allegedly shot the suspected burglar once.
A few minutes later, 911 received a call from someone saying their friend had been shot.
The teenager is currently in critical but stable condition at a local hospital. He has been charged with auto burglary and conspiracy.
Cordova has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon resulting in great bodily harm. Police say he was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center.
