ROSWELL, NM (KRQE) - A cadet at the New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) in Roswell, NM has been arrested for allegedly soliciting sex from a minor.
Alejandro Garcia, 19, was taken into custody on campus Wednesday after Roswell detectives received a tip from police in Arlington, TX.
Sabrina Morales, a Roswell Police spokesperson, said they were informed that Garcia was a NMMI cadet and had outstanding warrants for his arrest. Those warrants are for solicitation of sex from a minor and aggravated sexual assault of a minor.
Roswell police say they don't know much about the incident and that Garcia is not accused of any crimes in New Mexico.
KRQE News 13 has contacted the Arlington Police Department as well as NMMI officials to see how long Garcia has been a student at NMMI but have yet to receive a reply.
