ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A key witness in the murder trial of Arizona prison escapee John McCluskey was on the stand Monday.
McCluskey's cousin and girlfriend, Casslyn Welch, helped McCluskey on his crime spree. She told jurors Monday that she and McCluskey became romantically involved in 2007.
The pair referred to each other as husband and wife even though they weren't legally married.
Welch says she helped McCluskey and Tracy Province escape in July 2010 by supplying firearms and a getaway vehicle.
McCluskey is being tried on federal carjacking and murder charges in the August 2010 deaths of Gary and Linda Haas of Oklahoma.
Their bodies were found in their burned travel trailer near Santa Rosa.
Province and Welch took plea deals to avoid the death penalty.
