ESPAÑOLA, N.M. (KRQE) - Rio Arriba County sheriff's deputies have arrested an alleged gang member for beating and robbing a 62-year-old man.
Ivan Maestas, a member of the 18th Street Gang, is accused of beating Delano Valdez, who was out for a walk in his Alcalde neighborhood last month.
Valdez was left with facial and head injuries. Officials say Maestas robbed Valdez of 12-hundred dollars.
Investigators say Valdez was able to identify Maestas because he had seen him grow up.
Deputies found Maestas at the home of another alleged gang member, Adel Valdez, who was arrested for harboring.
