PORTALES, N.M. (KRQE) - A convicted killer who broke out of the Roosevelt County jail this weekend has been recaptured in Salt Lake City.
On Friday night Robert Claudio, 31, and two others used a bed leg to break through a ceiling, get onto the roof and take off.
Two of the inmates were quickly caught, but Claudio got away.
He was on parole for second-degree murder in Colorado and was jailed in Portales after being charged with aggravated battery.
Officials say they found Claudio in Utah on Tuesday afternoon after following up on a tip but have not released any more information.
Claudio's girlfriend, Melissa Arguello, 36, of Portales was arrested with him and charged with conspiracy and assisting in escaping from custody. She is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
