ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Bernalillo County Deputies are investigating a late nighthomicide that occurred in Albuquerque's South Valley.
Investigators said that a 40-year-old man was killed by a manwho ran him over, and then drove away.
It happened as the victim's family watched on the 2000 block ofFelicitias SW around 10:00 p.m. Saturday.
It was a verbal fight that ended in death; leaving one familywithout a dad heading into the holiday season, and deputies lookingfor the man who was behind the wheel.
Robert Garcia, 40, was at a family gathering Saturday just a fewhouses from where he lived.
A family friend, identified as Raymond Loya, 34, showed up andthe two got into an argument.
Garcia told Loya to leave the party. Loya got into his vehicle,slammed on the gas and struck Garcia, according to Sheriff'sDeputies.
Then Loya allegedly drove over him at least a couple more timeswhile Garcia's stunned family watched in horror, unable tohelp.
Garcia later died at University of New Mexico hospital.
The Garcia family is understandably shaken after losing theirfather, especially so close to Christmas.
His daughter, who is in her 20s, told News 13 that he was agreat man and dad.
Sheriff's Deputies are on the lookout for Loya. They believethat Loya is driving a green 2000-2004 Ford Ranger step-side pickuptruck.
