ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Police said that a 10-year-old Valencia County boy will becharged with first degree murder in the shooting death of hisfather.
Belen police said Benjamin Hilburn, 10, called them lastThursday. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the bodyof Byron Hilburn, 42. He had been shot once in the back of thehead.
The boy told police he thought his father was punishing him tooharshly and too often, according to police.
Benjamin is in the custody of the Children Youth and FamiliesDepartment.
Police said the boy used his own rifle.
