ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A DWI attorney on Thursday was found guilty of aggravated DWIand driving on an expired license.
Jurors returned the verdict against John Wayne Higgins afterabout an hour of deliberation Thursday afternoon.
Higgins was accused of driving drunk, getting into an accidentand acting belligerent towards police on the scene.
His defense attorneys acknowledged that he had been drinking,but said there was no evidence Higgins was actually behind thewheel while drunk.
But, a witness to the prosecution testified Monday that he sawHiggins hit a curb with his car the night of his arrest at 12thStreet and Mountain Road in northeast Albuquerque.
