ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Police say a driver who was badly hurt in an overnight crash is suspected of beating his girlfriend and stealing her car before he crashed.
Police say Wealthy Thomas, 27, allegedly assaulted his girlfriend at a 7-Eleven on Candelaria at about 2 a.m. then took off.
About an hour later, Thomas rolled the vehicle at Ladera and Sequoia and was ejected, police say.
Thomas was taken to UNM Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
The girlfriend was beaten so severely, police say, she was taken to the hospital as well.
