GALLUP (KRQE) - After nearly three years, a burglar with aguilty conscience returned all of the jewelry he stole along withan unsigned apology.
The letter from the burglar that read in part, "Please forgiveme, I so sorry I steal from you…so many bad things happenbecause I steal from you, I so sorry."
In May 2007, the Fronterotta’s Gallup home was invaded bya burglar. He took off with about $1,000 and around a dozen piecesof jewelry.
The necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings came back to theirrightful owners in a padded package addressed to the same home theywere stolen from.
“I said ‘Look here it is all here,'” SuzieFronterotta said. “I can’t believe he didn’t sellit."
While some pieces were more expensive, Fronterotta said she isgrateful for the return of sentimental pieces like a nearly30-year-old pearl necklace and a bracelet given to her by a familymember shortly before his death.
“I wish him well, he did the right thing by returning mystuff and I wish him well. I hope his life gets better,” shesaid.
The burglar also said in the letter that tragic events, like thedeath of his wife, prompted him to return the items.
He also said he wanted to pay back the money he stole from theFronterotta's if he can.
The Fonterotta's said they don't want police to charge the thiefif they ever catch him.
