ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The casino at the Downs in Albuquerque officially opened to the public Thursday.
The new $30 million state-of-the-art facility has almost 700 slot machines, a fine-dining restaurant, a bar and food court.
This week's debut is being called a soft opening. The grand opening will be held when horse racing kicks off for the season on Aug. 2.
The Downs is still looking to fill full-time, part-time and seasonal positions.
The casino is located near the intersection of Central Avenue NE and Louisiana Boulevard. The previous casino was located in the racetrack grandstands building.
