Rio Rancho man's custom truck lands him on new TV show

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) - A Rio Rancho man's unique hobby has landed him a spot on a national television show.

Matt Allen is among 50 truck owners competing to win $10,000 on the History Channel's "Truck Night in America."

Each episode features five drivers in their own customized vehicles going head-to-head in three challenges, testing speed, strength and handling.

Allen says he applied after coming across an ad on social media.

"My wife actually thought it was a scam at first. She was like, 'No, that's not real, don't mess with it. But yeah, it was cool. But she was so wrong," Allen said.

The series premieres Thursday night at 8 p.m.

Allen will compete in episode 10, which airs May 10.
