Man accused of trying to carjack football players to remain behind bars

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) - The man accused of trying to carjack four high school football players was back in court Friday morning.

Albuquerque Police picked up Angelo Martinez last week for failure to comply with pretrial services and testing positive for meth.

In August, police say he tried to carjack four charter school football players after practice near Yale and Kathryn. The players stopped him and roughed him up.

In October, Martinez was arrested in a stolen car with meth.

Friday morning, Judge Cindy Leos revoked Martinez's conditions of release so he will remain behind bars.

Martinez's next hearing is set for March 16.
