Albuquerque neighborhood files civil rights complaint against city

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) - One of Albuquerque's oldest neighborhoods has filed a civil rights complaint against the city.

It's been an ongoing battle for years. Martineztown residents say the city's new zoning code is discriminatory and will lead to the erosion of their historic neighborhood.

They say the comprehensive plan doesn't award the area the protections it deserves. Now, the Historic Neighborhood Alliance is backing their claims, asking the feds to launch an investigation.

Mayor Tim Keller's office says it's also concerned about historical equity issues and encouraged all sides to work together to resolve the concerns.
