Madeline Schmitt

Weekend Evening Anchor and Multimedia Journalist

Madeline Schmitt joined the KRQE News 13 team in June 2015 as a Reporter. In June 2017, she became the Weekend Evening Anchor/Reporter.

Prior to moving to the Land of Enchantment, Madeline worked as a morning reporter at KXII-TV in Sherman, Texas. One of her most memorable moments reporting for “Texoma” was covering the annual gathering of roughly a dozen Medal of Honor recipients in Gainesville, Texas. Madeline met and talked with each of the heroes.

Madeline got her start in broadcast journalism working behind-the-scenes at KTVT-TV and as an intern at WFAA-TV, both in Dallas-Fort Worth. She earned her BA in Journalism at Texas Christian University… Riff Ram!

It may seem like Texas is her home – but it’s not! Madeline is actually an Army brat and New Mexico marks the seventh state she’s lived in. At one point, her family was stationed in Colorado Springs. It was the gorgeous Rockies and Pikes Peak that drew Madeline to live among mountains again – this time just down I-25 in the desert!

When she’s not on the anchor desk or out in the field reporting, Madeline is likely hanging with her cat, Leo, or trekking around New Mexico in her Jeep. She loves the state’s local cuisine and when it comes to ‘red or green?’ she chooses Christmas! Balloon Fiesta is Madeline’s favorite New Mexico tradition, by far.
