KRQE Cares campaigns run during certain times of the year however, here are ways you can help all year long.
Shoes for Kids Campaign
In January and August we have a Shoes for Kids campaign. This campaign encourages our viewers to donate new athletic shoes for kids. The drop off boxes are at all the Albuquerque Payless Shoesource stores and here at KRQE News 13 (13 Broadcast Pl SW, Albuquerque, NM 87104). If you purchase the shoes at a Payless store you will receive a 15% discount on the new pair of athletic shoes purchased for the drive.
We also have two on air phone drives in January and again in August for our viewers to call in a donation for the purchasing of new athletic shoes.
You can also go to https://assistanceleagueabq.org anytime during the year to donate to the Shoes for Kids project. Or send a check to Assistance League of Albuquerque and put in the memo of the check that the donation is for Shoes for Kids. Assistance League of Albuquerque, 5211 Lomas NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
Assistance League of Albuquerque is a non-profit 501c3 organization. You will receive a receipt for your donations for your tax purposes.
Books for Kids Campaign
Monetary donations are used to purchase a specific book that is given to children that attend "Storytime in the Parks" during the summer months. This campaign is not to collect used or new books. "Storytime in the Parks" is a program of APS Title 1 Schools that send a certified teacher to parks where free lunches are served by the city and county around the Albuquerque area during the summer. The book that is read to the children on that given day is the book the children are given.
If you have gently used or new books you'd like to donate to children you can donate them to the Discover a Book on ABQ RIDE program. For more information go to - https://www.cabq.gov/transit/programs-and-projects/discover-a-book
Corporate Sponsorships and Foundations
We want KRQE Cares to be a statewide project, and it will be, in time. As corporate sponsors and foundations join the KRQE Cares program we will see this accomplished in the next few years. If you are apart of a Foundation or would like more information for a Corporate Sponsorship, please contact Joe.Tracy@krqe.com (505) 764-5210
