The Sandia Peak Ski Area on the east slope of Albuquerque's rugged neighbor offers a full day of winter fun with a complete rental shop, skier's café and a certified snow sports school. But for those already equipped for snow sports, the spectacular approach is from the west on the worlds longest passenger aerial tram, the 2.7-mile Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway. From any direction the mountain topping 10,000 feet is a source of year-round recreation. www.sandiapeak.com
