Pajarito Mountain earned its reputation for uncrowded slopes as the nonprofit Los Alamos Ski Club over the decades developed its privately owned site with spectacular views of the Rio Grande Valley and the Sangre de Cristos to the east and northeast. From its 10,440 summit the view to the west reveals the volcanic Valles Caldera. Pajarito boasts about 300 acres of cleared terrain plus excellent tree skiing and a terrain park. Set into the eastern face of the Jemez Mountains, Pajarito is open to the public on both day tickets and season passes. www.skipajarito.com
